Our Mission

A Home for Czechs & Slovaks at HSG

The Czech & Slovak Union is the student association for Czech and Slovak students at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), and for anyone else who feels a connection to our two countries, languages, or traditions.

We exist to make the transition to life and studies at HSG easier, to keep Czech and Slovak culture and traditions alive far from home, and to build lasting friendships across Bachelor's and Master's programs, cohorts, and nationalities.

Founded in 2026, we are one of HSG's newer student associations: small enough to feel personal, and ambitious enough to plan for many academic years to come.

Two Countries, One Community

We organize social evenings, cultural traditions such as Mikuláš and Easter celebrations, and casual gatherings that bring Czech and Slovak students together, alongside anyone at HSG who wants to join in. We also support new students as they settle into university life, and we maintain relationships with sponsors and alumni who help make our activities possible.

2026

The Czech & Slovak Union is founded by a group of students at HSG who wanted a home away from home, and a place for Czech and Slovak culture on campus.

Autumn 2026

Our founding board is elected and our first Welcome Apéro brings together the very first members of the Union.

Winter 2026

We celebrate our first Mikuláš & Christmas Punch, and start building relationships with sponsors to support future events.

2027 & Beyond

A full calendar of social, cultural, and academic events, and, we hope, many more academic years of new boards, new members, and new traditions to come.
